Treatment tracking
Is it working, or are you six months into nothing?
Minoxidil and finasteride take months to show anything. Until then your only feedback is hair in the drain and a mirror that looks the same.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE
The mirror looks the same. The measurement doesn't.
Hair shaft caliber changes months before coverage looks any different. That's the window a scan can see and a photo can't.
SCAN
Sweep the zone with the 50× scanner.
MEASURE
Shaft caliber in microns, calibrated.
TRACK
Watch the number move over months.
HAIR SHAFT CALIBER
Same zone. Same measurement.
Different signal.
The mechanism
Thickness moves before coverage does.
Follicles shrink before they quit, and treatment reverses it in the same order. Hairs thicken months before a photo would show any difference.
The shedding trap. Minoxidil often triggers a shed in the first weeks. It looks exactly like failure, and it's when most people stop — right before the part that works. If your caliber is climbing while you shed, the numbers will say so.
The cycle
Baseline, then every thirty days.
Baseline
Scan before or as you start. Everything after compares against this, so it's the one session you can't skip.
First check-in
Usually too early to mean much. The report says so rather than inventing progress.
A direction appears
Enough separation to see which way things are moving.
The first real read
Where the numbers are worth acting on — staying the course, or talking to your doctor about changing something.
Common questions
How long until I can tell if minoxidil is working?
Most people need about three months before change is measurable and six before it's visible. That gap is the whole problem: without numbers, month two feels like failure even when it isn't.
Isn't shedding a sign it's failing?
Early shedding is common when starting minoxidil and often comes right before regrowth. Shaft thickness can be improving during the exact weeks the drain looks worst, which is when most people quit.
What does it measure?
Average hair shaft caliber in the zones you treat, and the share of hairs thinning rather than full thickness. Both measured identically each time so they stay comparable.
How often do I scan?
A baseline before or as you start, then roughly every 30 days. Each session takes a couple of minutes.
Does it work for finasteride, dutasteride or microneedling?
Yes. You log what you're using and where, and each treatment is tracked on its own timeline.
